Filter Wheel, Focuser and Rotator

In the Filter Wheel, Focuser and Rotator tab you can connect your ASCOM based filter wheels, auto focusers and rotators. It also allows you to switch filters, change settings for the auto focuser, including focus movement and rotation. The User Interface and functionality consists out of following elements:

  1. Filter Wheel Drop Down
    • Select the filter wheel to connect
      > There is also a manual filter wheel option available that will prompt to change the filter manually
  2. Filter Wheel Settings (ASCOM)
    • Start the ASCOM settings software for the selected filter wheel (if available)
  3. Refresh Filter Wheel Devices
    • Refreshes the device list and checks for newly connected filter wheels
  4. Connect Filter Wheel
    • Attempts to connect the filter wheel to N.I.N.A.
  5. Filter Wheel Information
    • Display of a few information about the filter wheel
  6. Filter Change
    • To change a filter, select the target filter inside the combobox on the left and click on the change button
  7. Filter Wheel Filters
    • List of all Filters with Focus Offsets as provided by ASCOM
      > The ASCOM filter list needs to be imported once to the N.I.N.A. settings, refer to Equipment Settings
  8. Focuser Drop Down
    • Select the focuser to connect
  9. Focuser Settings (ASCOM)
    • Starts the ASCOM settings software for the selected focuser (if available)
  10. Refresh Focusers
    • Refreshes the device list and checks for newly connected focusers
  11. Connect Focuser
    • Attempts to connect the focuser to N.I.N.A.
  12. Focuser Information
    • Display of various information about the focuser and its status
  13. Focuser Temperature Compensation
    • Enables compensation for ambient temperature of the focuser if a temperature sensor is available to compensate for focus drift due to temperature change in the night
    • Disables manual movement of the focuser
  14. Focuser Target Position and Move
    • Allows you to set a specific focuser target position
    • Is disabled when automatic temperature compensation is enabled
  15. Rotator Drop Down
    • Select the rotator to connect
      > There is also a manual rotator option available that will prompt to change the camera rotation manually
  16. Rotator Settings (ASCOM)
    • Starts the ASCOM settings software for the selected rotator (if available)
  17. Refresh Rotators
    • Refreshes the device list and checks for newly connected rotators
  18. Connect Rotator
    • Attempts to connect the rotator to N.I.N.A.
  19. Rotator Target Position and Move
    • Allows you to set a specific rotator target rotation
